Every sportsbook slip carries a price, and an odds converter is the shortcut that turns that price into a format you can compare. This page gives you the exact formulas and a table, all built on hypothetical prices. Once you can read one price in five formats, sports betting at PHSWERTE stops hiding anything behind its slip.

The odds converter table: one price in five formats

Each row is the same hypothetical price written five ways, with the implied probability in the last column. Read across a row and you see one bet, not five.

The 2.00 row is the pivot. Below it, Indonesian and American odds turn negative; at and above it they turn positive.

Decimal odds: the base every conversion starts from

Decimal odds are the total return per 1 staked, stake included. A ₱100 stake at 1.90 returns ₱190, of which ₱90 is profit. Because the stake is inside the number, the price is never below 1.00.

Use decimal as your hub format:

  1. Convert whatever the slip shows into decimal.
  2. Compute the implied probability as 1 divided by the decimal price.
  3. Compare prices only after both are decimal.

Convert decimal into the other formats

Each formula below starts from a decimal price D. Every example uses D = 1.90 unless it says otherwise.

Hong Kong odds

Hong Kong odds are profit per unit staked. The formula is D minus 1, so 1.90 becomes 0.90. They never go negative.

Indonesian odds

Indonesian odds flip sign around 2.00. If D is 2.00 or more, the number is D minus 1 and positive: 3.00 becomes +2.00. If D is below 2.00, the number is minus 1 divided by (D minus 1) and negative: 1.90 becomes -1.11.

American odds

American odds also flip around 2.00. If D is 2.00 or more, the number is (D minus 1) times 100: 2.50 becomes +150. If D is below 2.00, the number is minus 100 divided by (D minus 1): 1.90 becomes -111. A negative American price is the stake needed to win 100.

Fractional odds

Fractional odds write D minus 1 as a fraction. 2.50 minus 1 is 1.50, which is 3/2. The numerator is profit, the denominator is stake, so 3/2 pays ₱3 of profit for every ₱2 staked.

Convert back to decimal

Going the other way is one line each:

Implied probability: read the percentage behind the price

Implied probability is 1 divided by the decimal price, written as a percentage. It tells you how often the outcome has to happen for the price to break even. A hypothetical 1.90 needs to win 52.63% of the time.

Work it through on a market with a margin:

  1. Take a three-way match result priced 2.40, 3.30 and 3.10 (hypothetical).
  2. Convert each: 41.67%, 30.30% and 32.26%.
  3. Add them: 104.23%. The 4.23% above 100 is the sportsbook’s margin, the same idea as a house edge.
  4. Divide each by 104.23 to strip the margin: about 39.98%, 29.07% and 30.95%.

The stripped numbers are what the market is really saying. Longer prices carry more margin, which is why a correct score bet or a BTTS meaning check on a both-teams-to-score price is worth running through this routine.

Before you stake on a PHSWERTE slip

Run this routine on the slip every time:

  1. Read the format the slip prints, and open the sportsbook’s rules if the format is unfamiliar.
  2. If it is not decimal, convert it with the table above. A slip showing +150 becomes 2.50.
  3. Compute the implied probability: 1 divided by 2.50 is 40.00%.
  4. Stake only if you rate the outcome higher than that percentage.

FAQ

How do I convert American odds to decimal odds?

For a positive number, divide it by 100 and add 1: +150 becomes 2.50. For a negative number, divide 100 by the number without its minus sign and add 1: -200 becomes 1.50.

What is the implied probability of decimal odds of 2.00?

Divide 1 by the price. 1 divided by 2.00 is 0.50, so the implied probability is 50%. Every price on the bet slip converts the same way.

What are Hong Kong odds?

Hong Kong odds show profit per unit staked and leave the stake out. They equal the decimal price minus 1, so a decimal 1.90 is 0.90 in Hong Kong odds.

Why do two prices from one sportsbook add up to more than 100%?

The extra is the sportsbook's margin. Prices of 1.90 on both sides of a two-way market imply 52.63% each, which totals 105.26%.
