Series winner and game handicap
Series winner is the base market. Say both teams are 1.85: 1 / 1.85 is 54.1 percent each, so the pair adds to 108.1 percent and the surplus is the margin. Game handicap moves the goalposts: a -1.5 favourite must win 2-0 in a best-of-three, while a +1.5 underdog wins the bet with any single game.
- Pick the series winner if you only have a view on who wins.
- Pick -1.5 if you expect a clean sweep.
- Pick +1.5 if you expect a close series.
Total games: how long the series runs
Total games ignores who wins. In a best-of-three with a 2.5 line, under wins only on 2-0, and over wins only on 2-1. Two evenly matched teams make over more likely, which is why the over price is often shorter for close pairings.
Your best-of-five total games bet shows a 3.5 line and you are unsure which result wins it.
First blood and total kills
First blood is settled per game: pick the team that scores the first kill of that game. Total kills counts every kill in a game by both teams, so a bloody 20-plus kill game beats a low line. Always confirm on the slip whether the market covers one named game or the whole series, because the label carries the game number.
