On nearly every casino page Bet unit turns up as a term, and almost none of them explain it.

Connecting a bankroll (the total set aside for play) with session length and the variance it can absorb is the job of the bet unit. Whether a peso figure is a conservative or reckless bet unit depends on the bankroll it is measured against; the unit only means something relative to that total and to the volatility of the game being played.

The common misreading

It is common to assume a bet unit that seems small is safe by default. It is not, in isolation. Whether a bet is safe depends on the bet unit, the bankroll, and the game’s volatility together: a ₱5,000 bankroll barely notices ₱10 a spin, while a ₱50 bankroll can run out in a handful of rounds.

Bankroll and volatility are separate ideas, and a bet unit is neither. That is the sizing decision linking them: total at risk is the bankroll, the game’s payout shape is volatility, and the bet unit is the choice that fixes how many rounds the bankroll can survive against that shape.

Using it in practice

A small fraction of the bankroll makes a better bet unit than a habitual round number, and on higher-volatility games it should shrink further and not stay fixed across every title played. It is easier to hold onto alongside what bankroll management means, which the same pages tend to mention in the same breath.

Game pages across this site use terms such as Bet unit, and when a studio publishes no figure for one, the page states that plainly instead of borrowing a number from a comparison site. Blanks in several spec tables here are down to exactly that.

A worked example

A 1% bet unit of ₱20 per spin on a ₱2,000 bankroll can absorb roughly 100 losing spins before the money is gone. With ₱100 per spin as the stake, 5% of the bankroll, the same bankroll can take just 20. With a high-volatility game, a dry run of 80 spins or more is nothing unusual and not bad luck, and the second sizing is gone well before the game could realistically pay.
