Cascading reels turn one spin into a chain: symbols that win are removed, new ones drop into the space, and the game checks again. The chain is where the big results live, because a multiplier can step up on each link. What happens in a cascade, step by step

The order is the same in every cascade slot, and the studio’s name for it is the only difference.

1. The reels stop and the game pays any winning group or line.
2. The winning symbols are removed from the grid.
3. Symbols above fall down, and new symbols drop in from the top to fill the gaps.
4. The game checks the new grid for a win, and pays it if one appears.
5. Steps 2 to 4 repeat until a grid contains no win, and the spin ends.

Multipliers that step up on each cascade

A stepping multiplier is the reason to prefer one cascade slot over another. The rules differ by game, so compare three examples.

1. Super Ace Deluxe grows its multiplier through each clear, never resets it and stops it at 20x.
2. Mahjong Ways 2 builds a free-spins multiplier to a maximum of 10x, and it does not reset inside the round.
3. Treasures of Aztec adds 1 to its multiplier per cascade in the base game and 2 per cascade in free spins.
